Differences in clinical features of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with or without left ventricular enlargement

چکیده
Background Few studies have focused on the clinical features of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) with enlarged left ventricle (ELV). Methods In this study, participants were patients HCM (n=170), who divided into two groups [ELV and normal (NLV)] according to size. Age at diagnosis, sex, complications, electrocardiogram (ECG), symptoms, drug treatment, echocardiographic parameters compared between NLV (n=153) ELV (n=17) groups. Results The incidence end-stage (ES-HCM) among all was 5.29%, while that 10.0%. For those asymmetric septal (ASHCM), there more males than NLV. Of ASHCM, ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) significantly lower in group group; accordingly, rates diuretics use higher group. Among apical (ApHCM) patients, atrial diameter (LAd), fibrillation (Af) or ST-T change, rate angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)/angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) Conclusions These findings suggest prevalence ES-HCM Additionally, is common men women are differences different types ELV.

Differences of left ventricular systolic deformation in hypertensive patients with and without apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
BACKGROUND We tested the hypothesis that the apical myocardial mechanics differ from those of other ventricular segments in hypertensive patients with and without apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (ApHCM). METHODS We retrospectively studied hypertensive patients with and without ApHCM. Left ventricular longitudinal, circumferential, and radial strains were examined by two-dimensional speckle...
متن کاملApical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or left ventricular non-compaction?
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a familial cardiac disease caused by mutations in one or more of 12 genes encoding protein components of the cardiac sarcomere. The disease is transmitted with an autosomal dominant trait and a variable penetrance. The phenotypic features of HCM may develop at any age from infancy to adulthood, and are characterized by a great heterogeneity in the extent, ma...
متن کاملLeft ventricular diastolic gradient in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy☆
Systolic left ventricular (LV) gradients and diastolic dysfunction are widely studied in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) [1,2], however diastolic gradients have never been described. A patient with HCM, mid-cavity obliteration and apical aneurysm, diagnosed by both 2D echocardiography (Fig. 1, panel A) and cardiac magnetic resonance (Fig. 1, panel B), showed color Doppler aliasing effect at m...
متن کاملRegional left ventricular mechanics in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
BACKGROUND Nonuniformity is a determinant of diastolic function. In patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertrophy, abnormal calcium handling, and regional ischemia can also play a role. This study was designed to assess regional mechanics, asynchrony, and asynergy in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. METHODS AND RESULTS Nine control subjects and 22 patients with hypertrophic...
متن کاملClinical sustained uniform ventricular tachycardia in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: association with left ventricular apical aneurysm.
Of 51 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy who had episodes of ventricular tachycardia detected during ambulatory electrocardiographic monitoring only two had clinical sustained uniform ventricular tachycardia that required medical treatment because of worsening symptoms. In both patients the arrhythmia was associated with the uncommon finding of an apical aneurysm with angiographically no...
